Reopening the John Danz Theater
For years, the John Danz Theater served as an epicenter of entertainment in Bellevue. Once a 1,500-seat, one-screen movie theater, it was the place where people gathered for community, recreation, and relaxation. It was, and in many ways still remains, an iconic and unmistakable landmark and gathering place in Downtown Bellevue.
On October 30th, 2011, the John Danz Theater will reopen its doors as Mars Hill Church in Bellevue.
The Story
• 2008 is when Mars Hill Bellevue began, with a core of about 200 people.
• 1,313 people now attend Mars Hill Bellevue on average each week (May–June 2011).
• 115 Mars Hill Bellevue people have been baptized since July 1, 2010.
• Almost 500,000 people live in the Eastside region.

Making Disciples and Planting Churches
New buildings are about building new disciples. That’s why we’re excited to move into the John Danz Building in Downtown Bellevue on October 30th. The Eastside is one of the most diverse, influential, and populous regions in the entire Northwest. Bellevue is at the center of this significant mission field, and the John Danz building is at the center of Bellevue. The building represents a critical piece of our mission to make disciples and plant churches. From this location, we hope to launch many more churches and share the gospel of Jesus with thousands of people.
Beyond a Building
Mars Hill Church is a group of ordinary people saved by Jesus. We come together on Sunday’s as one family to worship Jesus with singing, biblical preaching, and prayer.
We’d love to have you join us to celebrate both the first service in the John Danz Building and to celebrate Jesus.
If you plan on coming, here’s what to expect when you arrive on Sunday:
- The parking lot at Key Center will be reserved for you, your family, and the neighbors
- You’ll be able to enter the Key Center Garage at the Key Center entrance on 108th Street
- We’ll have greeters ready to help you into the John Danz Building
- Handicapped parking spaces will be available directly in front of and around the John Danz Building. To access, enter through the gates on 106th Street.
Our Service Times
9am, 11:15am, and 4pm

The remaining weeks of the project are vital. Yet we proceed boldly, confident that God will provide above and beyond our need so the mission of making disciples and planting churches will move forward.
As the John Danz Project continues, please labor in prayer in the following areas:
|
• That the City of Bellevue would approve
final inspections
• Safety for construction workers
and volunteer
• Wisdom for the leadership team
• Generous hearts in the body
of Mars Hill Bellevue
• New opportunities for mission in
Downtown Bellevue
• Development of community group leaders
in the Downtown core

A Legacy Begins
For those with a heart for the Eastside—and for those with a heart to see more people meet Jesus anywhere—the John Danz building is the opportunity of a lifetime. It will be a major gospel presence with the potential to impact a major city for generations to come.
We’re almost there, Mars Hill. Your elders are with you. Your church is with you. A city is ready for harvest. Our work and sacrifice today will yield more than we will ever know.
We look forward to seeing you at the John Danz Theater on October 30th.
For Jesus’ Fame,
